Manual Install Guide
Step-by-step for beta testers — extract the tarball, then load in Chrome
✦ Before you begin
- Google Chrome (any recent version)
- The searchless-extension-v*.tar.gz file from your beta invite
- About 2 minutes — extract in Finder, then load in Chrome
Installation steps
Download the tarball
Save searchless-extension-v*.tar.gz from the link we sent you (email or shared folder). Put it in Downloads or on your Desktop.
Extract on macOS
Easy way: Double-click the .tar.gz in Finder — Archive Utility expands it. You get a folder named searchless-extension (with manifest.json inside). Keep that folder where it is.

Same for macOS and Windows (steps 3–6 in the PDF guides).
Open Chrome Extensions page
In Chrome, type the address below into the address bar and press Enter. Or use the menu: ☰ → More Tools → Extensions.

Enable Developer Mode
On the Extensions page, find the Developer mode toggle in the top-right corner. Click it to turn it ON (it turns blue). Three new buttons appear — you'll use one of them next.
Click "Load unpacked" & select the folder
Click Load unpacked. Navigate to the searchless-extension folder from Step 2. Select the folder itself (not a file inside it) and click Select Folder.
Confirm Searchless is installed
Chrome returns to the Extensions page. The Searchless card should appear. The Searchless icon will also show in your Chrome toolbar — click it on any Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini page to begin.
